Build a Reasoning Model (From Scratch)

Online, United Kingdom ยท LLM Reading Club
Online

We are working through Build a Reasoning Model (From Scratch) by Sebastian Raschka. During each meetup, we will discuss the key concepts from the chapter or pages under review. In this session we'll discuss the Chapter 3. Evaluating Reasoning Models. Raschka provides a hands-on guide to understanding and building modern reasoning models. Starting with a conventional pretrained LLM, the book explores evaluation, inference-time reasoning techniques, reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards, and knowledge distillation. Please note that the session is not recorded, and participants are responsible for obtaining their own copy of the book. Buy the book (affiliate links): Amazon UK Amazon France Book overview: In Build a Reasoning Model (From Scratch), bestselling author Sebastian Raschka explains how modern reasoning-oriented language models work by implementing their core techniques step by step. You will begin with a conventional pretrained LLM and learn how to generate and evaluate its responses. You will then explore inference-time techniques such as chain-of-thought prompting, sampling, self-consistency, response scoring, Best-of-N, and self-refinement. Later chapters introduce training-based approaches, including reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards, GRPO, format rewards, and distillation from stronger reasoning models into smaller ones. Build a Reasoning Model (From Scratch) teaches you how to: Implement core LLM reasoning techniques from scratch Generate, score, and evaluate model responses Build verifier-based evaluation systems Improve reasoning using self-consistency, Best-of-N, and self-refinement Apply reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards Understand and implement GRPO-based training Distill the reasoning capabilities of stronger models into smaller ones Evaluate the accuracy, cost, and latency trade-offs of different reasoning techniques

Origins of Regenerative Living Zurich - Updates from the Atlantic Forest

Switzerland ยท Impact Hub Zรผrich

Attendees can be located anywhere in the world! There is a cost to attend this event. Our Meetup members get 25% OFF with Code IDEATOIPO In order to attend, please register here: Claude Code is powerful, but most engineers don't know how to integrate it into their actual workflow. They try it once, get confused about context, or end up reviewing poorly-scoped changes. The result: they revert to manual coding because the friction isn't worth the speed gain. The Session This is a hands-on workshop where you'll learn how to use Claude Code as a workflow toolโ€”not a replacement for your judgment. You'll work through real scenarios: exploring unfamiliar codebases, turning feature requests into implementation plans, drafting code and tests, and knowing when Claude Code is worth using versus when you need to steer. You'll Learn How to set up Claude Code and give it the context it needs to be useful How to explore an unfamiliar repository without losing oversight How to turn a feature request or bug into a working implementation plan How to review AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability Which tasks are high-leverage for Claude Code and which require caution Prompt patterns that fit into existing Git, code-review, and CI/CD workflows Who This Is For Software engineers and developers looking to improve day-to-day workflow Engineering managers and technical leads evaluating Claude Code for teams Data, platform, DevOps, and QA engineers Technical product managers who work closely with codebases Career-transitioning professionals with foundational coding experience Prerequisites Comfort using a terminal and Git Familiarity with at least one programming language A laptop with a development environment installed Optional: a personal practice repository to work in

Human Intelligence (HI): A Waterloo Tech Week Mixer

Workhaus Kitchener-Waterloo, Kitchener, Canada
In person

Human Intelligence (HI) is a Waterloo Tech Week mixer celebrating the people behind Waterloo Regionโ€™s technology and innovation community. In a year when so much of the conversation around technology is focused on artificial intelligence, HI takes a step back to focus on something equally important: human connection, collaboration, and community. Hosted by Workhaus, the event brings together founders, entrepreneurs, developers, designers, students, investors, operators, and technology professionals from across the region for an evening of food, drinks, conversation, and connection. Rather than another panel or keynote, HI is designed as an informal and engaging environment where people can meet others outside of their usual networks, exchange ideas, discover opportunities to collaborate, and build relationships. The evening will include interactive elements designed to spark meaningful conversations and make networking feel natural - not transactional. Whether you're building a company, working in the tech sector, exploring your next opportunity, or simply interested in connecting with Waterloo Regionโ€™s innovation community, there will be an opportunity to participate. At its core, Human Intelligence is a celebration of the people who make Waterlooโ€™s tech ecosystem what it is. Because while technology continues to evolve, the most valuable connections are still made face-to-face.

25% OFF: 2 Hours to Freedom: From Ticket to Tested Pull Request with Claude Code

Online, Israel ยท [T] MindCET - EdTech Innovation Center
Online

There are many groups promoting this event. Our meetup group is participating by promoting this event. This event is organized by Albert's List. This is an online event.

Copenhagen | Claude for Fintech

CodeNode Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark
In person

Join a Claude Community Event, organized by local enthusiasts for everyone who loves building with Claude Code! The first Claude meetup in Copenhagen focused on fintech and financial services. Financial services is one of the most demanding places to put AI to work. The upside is obvious: faster analysis, leaner compliance workflows, better customer communication, AI-native products. The constraints are just as realโ€”sensitive data, regulation, auditability, legacy platforms, and model cost. Nothing here ships on enthusiasm alone. The question isn't whether to use AI in finance. It's what has to be true before you can scale it. Built for fintech founders, CTOs and product leaders, developers working in or around financial services, and compliance, risk and governance profiles using AI in their day-to-day. Three practitioner talks at 20 minutes each, followed by a panel debate. The focus is on the parts of the work where AI is actually changing things. Governed AI adoption, and how to get from shadow AI and scattered experiments to something you can defend in an audit Cost-aware model strategy: routing, caching, and making AI spend visible Incumbents on the offensive, modernising legacy platforms in banking and pensions AI-native fintech, building product and customer experience around AI from day one Real workflows from people who have shipped them inside a regulated business Hosts Jacob Langvad Nilsson (LinkedIn), Claude Community Ambassador and co-founder of Applied Futures. First Monday with Gรกbor Zsarnรณczi

Create26, Budapest, Hungary ยท Startup Hungary
In person

On the 15th of September, join us for First Monday with Gรกbor Zsarnรณczi from Ominimo! Two years ago Ominimo had not sold a single policy. This summer it closed a Series B at a $1.6B (โ‚ฌ1.4B) valuation led by the EBRD's venture arm, becoming one of the fastest unicorns Europe has produced โ€” and doing it on roughly $33M of total funding while staying profitable. Ominimo is a Hungarian-Serbian insurtech, headquartered in Belgrade-Budapest-Novi Sad. Founded in 2024 by Dusan Komar, Laslo Horvath and Dennis Weinbender, it rebuilt motor insurance from the pricing engine up: proprietary models, granular risk segmentation, automated operations. Hungary was the first market, where the company took a meaningful share of the MTPL market in year one by undercutting incumbents on price without losing money on the book. The numbers since then are hard to argue with. Annualized gross written premium went from โ‚ฌ26.3M in 2024 to โ‚ฌ157.8M in 2025 to roughly โ‚ฌ307M today โ€” a 12x run-rate in two years. Close to a million customers across Hungary, Poland, the Netherlands and Sweden, with Belgium and Romania live this year, Spain, Italy and France next, and a US launch targeted for 2027. Zurich came in as a strategic distribution partner and shareholder at Series A. The team has grown from around 40 to 130, two-thirds of them data scientists and software engineers, including eight Mathematics Olympiad medallists. That profile is unusual for the sector. Europe's last insurtech cycle produced expensive lessons about growth running ahead of underwriting discipline. Ominimo built the opposite case: profitable first, expand second, raise capital to accelerate rather than to survive. Gรกbor Zsarnรณczi is a board member and Chief Growth Officer of Ominimo Group. He joined the founders early, coming from McKinsey โ€” as did several of the company's leaders โ€” and has run the Hungarian and Swedish market before stepping to a group role to lead all growth related efforts. In this First Monday session, Gรกbo

In person

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Language: Hungarian (the presentations and discussions will be held in Hungarian) Join us for the second Budapest Webflow Meetup, an evening focused on MCP workflows, AI-assisted Webflow operations, and custom development beyond Webflowโ€™s native capabilities. As MCP becomes increasingly relevant to how AI tools interact with platforms like Webflow, the focus of this meetup will be on practical implementation: what MCP enables today, how it can be used in real Webflow workflows, and where APIs, automation tools, or custom development remain the better approach. Weโ€™ll explore these areas through two technical sessions built around real workflows, implementation approaches, and practical lessons you can apply to your own projects. Whether you're a Webflow developer, designer, technical marketer, founder, freelancer, or agency owner, youโ€™ll leave with a clearer understanding of how MCP and custom development can extend what is possible with Webflow. ๐Ÿ“… Date: September 15, 2026 ๐Ÿ•• Time: 18:00โ€“20:00 ๐Ÿ“ Location: KAPTรR Coworking (1065 Budapest, Rรฉvay kรถz 4.) ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Language: Hungarian Speaker 1 Istvรกn Zรกmbรณ Co-Founder & Webflow Developer, Dare Studio Topic: Webflow MCP in Practice: From Prompt to Published Page Webflow MCP is changing what AI-assisted workflows can look like inside an actual Webflow project. Using two real projects โ€” a mockup store with hundreds of products and a film portfolio โ€” Istvรกn will show how Webflow MCP workflows perform in day-to-day use: where they can remove repetitive work, how far the current capabilities go, and what changes when these workflows are introduced into live projects. Rather than a polished demo built around ideal conditions, the session will give a behind-the-scenes view of MCP in production, including the trade-offs, unexpected behavior, and practical lessons that only become visible once you start using it

Agenda: 5:30pm\~6:00pm: Checkin and networking 6:00pm\~7:30pm: Tech talks and Q&A 7:30pm: Open discussion & Mixer Tech Talk: Building a Self-Governing Finance Data Platform Speaker: Saurabh Kumar (Senior Manager, AI & Data, Accenture) Abstract: In regulated finance, the checks that catch drift depend on someone remembering to run them. Between reviews, data quality slips, access widens and credit spend climbs, all of it quietly. This session builds the governance into the platform instead: a finance analytics platform on Snowflake CoCo run by specialist AI agents that profile transaction data, review the dbt project, audit access and track credit spend, then route what they find to GitHub, Jira and Slack. Each piece is built on screen, with the real code, then the swarm runs live to show the tickets the agents file on their own. Topics/Speakers: If you have a keen interest in speaking to our community, we invite you to submit topics for consideration: Submit Topics Sponsors: We are actively seeking sponsors to support our community. Whether it is by offering venue spaces, providing food/drink, or cash sponsorship. Sponsors will not only speak at the meetups, receive prominent recognition, and but also exposure to our extensive membership base of 5,000+ AI developers in Melbourne and 500K+ worldwide.

Automation, MCP, and vibe coding: what gets built vs. what gets shipped

Aon Center, Chicago, United States ยท Digital Delivery Chicago (formerly Chicago JavaScript)
In person

โญ๏ธ This month's meetup is sponsored by Tray.ai, the enterprise orchestration platform for data and AI. \-\-\- ๐Ÿ“Œ Automation, MCP, and vibe coding: what gets built vs. what gets shipped with Stephen Stouffer As a Solutions Engineer at an AI company, I build alongside teams every week. I've seen what works, what actually gets adopted, and what dies after the pilot. In this session I'll share how AI adoption has really played out from the front lines. Where it started, where it stands today, and where it's headed. We'll walk through real use cases, real agents, and a couple of apps that show how teams are using AI in ways you probably haven't seen yet. It won't be all slides! I'm bringing an agent or two along with me, and we'll put them to work live! \-\-\- If you're interested in speaking at an upcoming meetup, please email Bennett at bhansen@bitovi.com.
