AI Healthcare Hackathon with Anima x OpenAI

London, United Kingdom, London, United Kingdom
In person

[This event is now FULL - you can still submit an application to be added to future AI and healthcare events by Anima] Healthcare’s hardest problems are often not caused by missing science. The people, information and decisions are already there, but the systems around them are fragmented, manual or too slow. On Saturday 12 September, Anima and OpenAI are bringing a selected group of exceptional builders to OpenAI’s London HQ for one intense day of building to solve some of these challenges. You’ll work on a real clinical problem with direct access to a simulated healthcare system with synthetic longitudinal patient data, proprietary tooling to deploy agents into healthcare settings (currently used to serve >25% of the UK’s population), senior NHS stakeholders and clinicians, and Anima and OpenAI product and AI builders. Prizes Final prizes will be announced on the day. However, we'll have: Up to £15k in cash prizes ~£5k worth of gadgets up for grabs ~£5k of unique swag Who should apply This is an application-based event with limited places. Engineers, medics, product builders, researchers, and anyone with compelling evidence that they make ambitious things happen. Apply individually; we’ll share final team arrangements with successful applicants. Travel allowance This event is in person, in London. If you're selected, we'll cover up to £20 for travel from outside of London.

WORLDS | LONDON Hackathon

London, United Kingdom, London, United Kingdom
In person

World Models are about to change Games, Media, and Robotics, and most people still have not had a real chance to build with them. Worlds is a curated, one-day hackathon where London's best Engineers, Founders, and Artists come together to make working prototypes across five tracks; with the kind of energy that feels more like a launch party than a conference. Expect a room full of sharp people, ambitious ideas, and fast-moving builds in King's Cross. The judges are the people building these models, which makes this a rare chance to test ideas in front of the creators shaping the field. If you want to get your hands dirty, meet the people pushing world models forward, and leave having actually made something, this is the place to be. GirlsWhoML & PhysicsX Hackathon

London, United Kingdom, London, United Kingdom
In person

If commercial space flights land on Mars tomorrow, what would you build to create the Martian city? [APPLICATIONS CLOSED] Join GirlsWhoML and PhysicsX for an evening hackathon in London to tackle the first human landing on Mars, supported by Cursor. You arrive on an empty, rust-red planet with no city, no roads, and no infrastructure. What do you build first? You’ll design and prototype one core system for the Martian city, across three tracks: Architecture, Vehicles, and Life Support. Every build should combine engineering, machine learning, or 3D modelling. The window is short, but that’s the point: see how far you can push what’s possible in a single evening. Mentors will be on the floor throughout, your work will be reviewed by a panel of industry judges, and every participant gets Cursor credits supported by Francisco Terpolilli, Cursor's EU Ambassador and Regional Leader. Bring a team of 2-3, or turn up solo and we’ll help you find a crew, at our team formation session. Women, non-binary, and allies are all welcome. Prizes provided by PhysicsX, including career coaching and mentorship opportunities, to be announced. Bring your curiosity, your laptop, and your ambition. The city starts with you. Schedule 🛸 5:30pm - launch pad 6:00pm - mission briefing 6:20pm - ignition 8:00pm - mid mission check 8:30pm - code freeze 8:38pm - demos 9:30pm - judging 9:45pm - close Thank you so much for the incredible response to this hackathon. We’ve been genuinely overwhelmed (in the best way!) by the interest, which far exceeds our venue’s capacity. Because space is limited, we’ve had to carefully curate a group that reflects our community and fits the hack’s brief. With so many strong applications, this was a difficult process. If you don’t receive a spot this time, please know it comes down to capacity and fit for this specific event not a judgment on your talent or potential. Thank you again for your enthusiasm and for taking the time to apply.

The AI Workforce Summit @ Google Where AI expands what people can do Artificial intelligence is changing how businesses operate. But the biggest shift isn't better software. It's the emergence of AI workers. On 16 September, founders, operators and technology leaders will come together at Google for the inaugural AI Workforce Summit - an evening exploring how businesses are beginning to redesign teams, workflows and growth around AI workers. You'll hear from the companies already leading this transition, meet the people shaping the category, and explore what happens when organisations stop asking "Which AI tool should we buy?" and start asking "Which AI workers should we hire?" If you're building the next generation of companies - or trying to understand how AI workers will reshape yours - you should be in the room. Who's in the room Growth-stage founders, builders and operators already running AI-first functions - or building them. Technology leaders looking to shape their AI strategy. Investors looking for the next category shift. How it works Apply to attend. Tell us the single most important objective your business needs to achieve in the next six months. Places are curated to protect the quality of conversation. Every selected attendee leaves with 2,000 Ren credits to put an AI worker to work on their own objective. Agenda 17:30 - Arrival Every attendee has told us their single most important objective before arriving. We use it to organise who you meet. 18:30 - The Thesis A short opening on what changes when AI becomes labour, not software. 18:45 - Panel: Building the AI Workforce Leading founders and operators already running AI-first functions - sales, ops, growth, hiring - on what an AI worker should own, what teams look like now, and what's next. 19:30 - Curated networking Small, curated conversations built around what people in the room are actually trying to achieve - not what company they work for. 20:00 - General Networking Our Story: Ren is the

The state of harness engineering

London, United Kingdom, London, United Kingdom
In person

Models are getting better fast. But when an agent fails in production, the model often isn’t the problem these days. Instead, problems increasingly start and stop with the agent harness. The failure might be in the context it received, the tool it called, the path it took through a workflow, the state it carried forward, or the recovery logic that kicked in when something went wrong. Together, those systems make up the agent harness, and they increasingly determine whether an agent actually works. Join Arize and Google DeepMind in London for a practical evening on how to find and fix failures across the systems surrounding the model. We’ll look at where agent harnesses break in production, how teams use traces and evals to understand what went wrong, and the patterns developers are using to make agents more reliable as models become more capable. You’ll hear perspectives from Arize, Google DeepMind, and another team building agents in production, followed by drinks, food, and time to compare notes with fellow AI builders. Who this is for AI engineers, agent builders, technical leads, and PMs building LLM-based products, especially anyone working on tools, context, evals, tracing, orchestration, or agent reliability. What you'll leave with A practical model for thinking about the systems that make up an agent harness A clearer picture of where agents fail beyond the model itself Techniques for using traces and evals to find the source of failures Patterns for debugging and improving tools, context, workflows, and recovery logic Perspectives from Google DeepMind and teams shipping agents in production New connections with fellow AI builders in London Format Three talks plus networking, approximately 2.5 hours. Level Beginner to advanced. No specific platform experience required. Agenda (TBC) 6:00 - 6:45 PM | Opening: Check-in, welcome drinks & snacks, opening remarks 6:45 - 7:15 PM | Session 1: Building AI at scale: Typeform's Approach to Evaluation and Agent Quality

Data Storage & AI: Store Smarter, Scale Further

The London Art Bar, London, United Kingdom · Data Engineering London
In person

After a long break, Data Engineering London is back! Join us for our post-summer meetup: an evening of talks, lively discussion, and networking with one of London’s biggest data engineering communities. In this edition, we’ll explore the growing relationship between Storage & AI. We’ll look at how the rapidly changing AI landscape is influencing data storage, and how new approaches can enable better scalability, lower costs, and faster, more efficient access to data. The evening will feature two talks followed by a panel discussion, with plenty of time to meet other attendees, exchange ideas, and continue the conversation over food and drinks. This event is generously sponsored by Altinity, whose team will also be joining us on the night. Be sure to say hello and learn more about their work. Schedule 18:00–19:00 Networking, with food and drinks provided by Altinity 19:00–20:30 Talks and panel discussion 20:30–21:00 More networking Venue London Art Bar 300 High Holborn, London Speakers and Talks Talk: There's a great future in storage: building analytic systems to hold data for AI (Robert Hodges, CEO @ Altinity) Remember the famous movie line, "There's a great future in plastics?" Maybe not! You probably weren't born when The Graduate came out. We'll riff on the meme, because AI is making developers care \a lot\ about storage in analytic databases: how it's arranged, who can access it, how much it costs, and how you can scale up performance. We cover the standard models: from hot data on SSDs to frozen data in lakehouses. You'll learn the practical trade-offs and get ideas how to apply each model to help AI apps run successfully. Talk: AI Is Turning Storage Into Memory (Mischa van Kesteren, HPC/AI Solutions Architect @ HPE) Everyone talks about GPUs when discussing AI infrastructure. Far fewer talk about storage. Yet modern AI workloads are increasingly limited by data movement, metadata performance, and access to persistent state. From training pipelines to

Bring a journal and some examples of difficult situations you'd like fresh perspectives on. Doors open at 19:00, please arrive by 19:30 to ensure a closed container (you will not be able to participate if you arrive later than 19:30). The workshop will run from 19:30-21:30.
