Who Should Attend: Those who want to deliver Manual Handling Training to employees, customers, and management. Those who wish to meet their legal responsibilities for training under Health and Safety legislation and industry-specific codes of practice.
The scope and aim of the QQI Manual Handling Instructor Training are to give learners the skills, knowledge, and experience (& of course the qualification) to deliver their own Manual Handling training in-house.
Course Duration: The course runs for 5 days over 2 weeks. 9.30 AM - 5.00 PM each day.
Course Overview:
Our Manual Handling Instructor QQI Level 6 course gives participants the know-how, skillfulness, and self-reliance to manage and deliver Manual Handling training. This Manual Handling Instructor course is designed to give you the skills for you to complete Manual Handling Risk Assessments and provide training as required by “Part 4, Chapter 2, of the General Application Regulations 2007, Manual Handling of Loads”, which states that staff engaging in manual handling actions must have training in the safe manual handling of loads.
Day 1 - Covers Legislation for health and safety, particularly manual handling. The learner will gain a detailed knowledge of Acts, Regulations, insurance, courts, employers, and employees' legal responsibilities.
Day 2 - Covers the risk assessment process, injuries, and anatomy. Learners will be able to conduct detailed manual handling risk assessments and will be able to recommend control measures that will cut the risk of manual handling injuries. They will also gain a good knowledge of anatomy and how injuries occur.
Day 3 - Covers training skills. Learners will gain practical knowledge of the skills required to successfully deliver a manual handling training course. Learners will also cover the basics of safe lifting techniques.
