38. Google Cloud Meetup

weXelerate, Vienna, Austria · Google Cloud Meetup Vienna
In person

This event is free of charge and only takes place on-site! Language of the Meetup: ENGLISH 🇬🇧 Talk #1: Call center audio analytics: Hours of sensitive customer calls, turned into insights - with sovereign and private AI [Georg Heiler, Danilo Labanca] The most valuable data in a telco is the data you are least free to send anywhere. A recorded customer call carries a voice fingerprint - biometric data under GDPR - and that holds for your evaluation set just as much as for production. We show how sovereign AI unlocks use cases an external API may never touch, and why the same setup turned out cheaper. Open weights, Ray, Dagster and Metaxy - and an honest look at where the GPUs should live for operational AI. Talk #2: The Agent, Your Business Need [Martin Mayr, Adrian Dimaano] More businesses than ever explore the use of agentic workflows to automate manual tasks. One common use case is the integration into company data and knowledge landscape. This integration comes with a few challenges: How should one reflect company polices? How can one connect different software solutions to the agent and how can one make sure to reflect and isolate workflows. In this talk we are going to explore possible answers to each question and present a practical example, how one can integrate agentic workflows to support the company in day-to-day business. — 📅 September 24th, 2026, from 17:30 📍 Location: weXelerate Auditorium, Praterstraße 1, 1020 Vienna 🚇 Approach: U1/U4 to Schwedenplatz, entrance via Taborstraße or Praterstraße. Parking available in the building garage. — ⏰ Schedule: Check-in: 17:30 – 18:00 Talk #1: 18:00 – 18:30 Break & Networking: 18:30 – 18:45 Talk #2: 18:45 – 19:15 Networking, Food & Drinks: 19:15 – 21:00 — We are now part of the GDG community. The Third Space × Paper Republic

Paper Republic, Vienna, Austria
In person

THE KEEPING SEASON Dialog · Writing Workshop · Vinyl Session · Connection Ein Abend, der in Erinnerung bleibt. Im Mittelpunkt steht eine Frage: "In a disposable age, what is worth keeping?"

When switching costs balloon and migration paths vanish, architectural agility suffers. How do you balance development velocity with long-term technological independence? In this talk, I will break down a pragmatic, 2-step evaluation process used at willhaben to assess third-party solutions before writing a line of integration code. You’ll learn how to implement a practical Service Decision Matrix that quantifies service quality, operational complexity, and operation costs within a realistic vendor lock-in framework. Roland Rittchen \- Senior Platform Engineer at SQUER OpenStack: From Sovereignty to Liberty Europe has spent three years building sovereign cloud. Regulators demand it, the European Commission procures it, and a dozen providers now sell it. But sovereignty answers a question about jurisdiction — and it quietly leaves the harder one unanswered: if you can't actually move, you aren't free. You've just changed who owns you. This talk takes the promise literally and tests it. One OpenTofu repository, one Flux repository, three targets: a self-hosted OpenStack cluster running on three mini PCs, plus two European public clouds. We measure how much genuinely transfers, find the places it leaks, and confront the gap nobody p
