Healthcare’s 3.9pp rise contrasts with Finance’s 7.6pp retreat in early-stage funding shares

Across the 817 early-stage deals Brouky tracks in Spain and Switzerland, Healthcare & Life Sciences led sector share gains with a 3.9 percentage point increase from 15% to 18.9% between 2021 and 2024. This growth contrasts with Finance & Blockchain’s 7.6 percentage point drop, falling from 16.6% to 8.9%, marking the largest sector retreat in this period. These share shifts may partly reflect expanding data coverage.
Energy, Environment & Mobility also increased its share by 1.8 percentage points, rising from 8.7% to 10.5%. Meanwhile, Software & Developer Tools and Industry & Hardware saw moderate share increases of 2.4 and 2.1 percentage points, respectively.
The median funding round sizes reflect these dynamics: Energy rounds command a median of €8.5 million, the highest among reported sectors, while Healthcare rounds have a median of €7 million. Finance rounds, despite losing share, maintain a median size of €5.75 million.
