  • Swiss pre-seed single-round share is 47.1%, lower than UK's 52.6%
  • Overall, 53.9% of Swiss startups raised a single round compared to 53.5% in the UK

Across the 6,680 startups Brouky tracks whose first tracked round was at least two years ago, the share of companies that raised exactly one round without a follow-up varies between Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Switzerland has a 54.8% share of seed-stage startups that raised only once and did not raise again, which is 5 percentage points higher than the UK's 49.9% at the seed stage. This indicates a stronger tendency for Swiss seed startups to stall or remain at a single funding round compared to their UK peers, though this may partly reflect expanding data coverage.

At the pre-seed stage, the pattern reverses: 47.1% of Swiss startups raised only one round versus 52.6% in the UK. This shows that 52.6% of UK pre-seed startups raised only one round, compared to 47.1% in Switzerland.

SINGLE-ROUND FUNDING SHARE BY COUNTRY AND STAGE (%)

Share chart

When looking at the entire sample of startups that started raising at least two years ago, the overall proportion of single-round raisers is very close: 53.9% in Switzerland and 53.5% in the UK. Despite similar overall single-round shares, the stage-level breakdown reveals distinct regional dynamics, with Switzerland showing greater single-round concentration at seed and the UK at pre-seed.
