We'll make this call on the morning. Pickleball Basic Rules & Scoring Before your first time playing, please check out this 5-min video which covers the basic rules and scoring: https://youtu.be/pDDwZgepQeE We'll use traditional scoring rules with games up to 11 (you need to win by 2 points). Beginner Tips Don't worry about looking silly - everyone does at the beginning. Before you serve, make sure you say the score, otherwise you will quickly lose track of it. Try to notice your most common mistake to improve that. Try to get to the kitchen line quickly - don't hang back at the base line like tennis. The serve has to be under arm 'in an upward arc' - so no downward slicing, tennis style serve or side arms. The rule everyone forgets is that the ball has to land once on each side (two-bounce rule) before you can start volleying - so remember 'Serve and Stay' and 'Return and Run'. General Etiquette It's just a social game for a bit of fun, so let's keep it friendly. After each game ends, change it up - e.g. swap your partner, swap courts etc. If anyone is waiting

SVP Presents: Demo Day

133 Castlereagh St, Sydney, Australia
In person

Come see what a room of founders, students, and investors can build together. On 17 September, Sydney Venture Partners is hosting our first ever Demo Day! A few months ago, SVP was an idea: what if a group of students learned venture the way it's actually practised, by meeting real founders and doing the real work? Since then our cohort has trained, sourced across the Sydney ecosystem, run first conversations with dozens of founders, and worked through diligence on the ones that stood out. Demo Day is where we pull back the curtains and put the founders in the spotlight. What to expect: Live pitches from a selected group of early-stage founders, each one sourced and assessed by our members A glimpse under the hood at how we built SVP Real conversations with founders, investors, operators and students who care about building in Sydney Who this is for: Investors - early look at Sydney founders who've already been through our process Founders - come to observe, support, and find out how to get on stage next time Students and the venture-curious - the clearest possible answer to "what does SVP actually do?" Ecosystem builders - meet others making Sydney the best place to start something new Judges Panel: Baoying Tong - Blackbird Harrison Wright - Side Stage Ventures Andonis Sakatis - Repeat Builders Antonia Mijatovic - Airtree Startup lineup will be announced soon! Come for the pitches. Stay for the conversations.

Sydney | Claude Build night @ MongoDB

Sydney, NSW, Sydney, Australia
In person

Join a Claude Community Event, organized by local enthusiasts for everyone who loves building with Claude! A Claude community workshop open to everyone. Claude Community Build night This is the first Claude Community Australia build night, and it works differently to our regular events. No panel. No long demo. A short talk from a developer at MongoDB to set up the stack, and then the rest of the night is yours to build in. Audience is limited to strictly 40 people for this format! The format You get a problem and a backend. You get the rest of the night to turn that into something that runs, and if you want it to, something that is live on the internet before you go home. You will not get the problem in advance. That is deliberate. Going from a cold brief to a working thing is most of the actual skill in building with Claude Code, and you cannot practise it if you have had a week to plan. Everyone starts at the same line, at the same minute. What we will tell you now: it is a real problem, the data is real, and the backend is MongoDB. Bring your judgement, not a head start. Who this is for People who already build with Claude Code. Not "I have heard of it". You have installed it, pointed it at a project, and got something working. Read this bit properly. If you are earlier than that, apply anyway. You will learn a lot from being in the room. But go in with your eyes open. It moves fast, there is no beginner track, and nobody will be explaining the fundamentals from scratch. Parts of the night will be uncomfortable. That is a fine trade if you know it is coming. If you would rather start gentler, come to one of our intro sessions and catch the next build night instead. Seats are approved, not first come. Tell us honestly where you are at when you apply. We would rather put you in the right room than the next available one. Bring A Claude subscription, see below. Your own laptop and charger. A personal machine if your work one is locked down. Not a tablet, not an i
