From Fjord to Fleet: What Will It Take to Scale Ocean Innovation?

Rådhusbrygge 2, Oslo, Norway
In person

Start your morning with ocean innovation on the fjord. Join Katapult Ocean and Nor-Shipping for the blue-economy moment of Oslo Innovation Week: a curated breakfast gathering aboard MS Brisen, Brim Explorer’s 100% electric catamaran. A short program will explore what it takes to move ocean innovation from promising ideas to real-world scale, followed by time to connect with those building, backing, and enabling the next generation of ocean solutions. Experience a silent cruise aboard a vessel where zero-emission maritime technology is already at work. With the Oslo Fjord as the backdrop, the morning brings together international and Norwegian perspectives on the ideas, partnerships, and capital needed to accelerate maritime innovation and advance a more regenerative blue economy. Speakers • Invention — Jonas Skattum Svegaarden, CEO, Katapult Ocean • Deployment — Christian Dechsling, General Manager, MOL Shipping Norway (Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd.) • Adoption — Jens Eirik Hagen, Head of Energy Transition, Port of Oslo • Next steps — Sidsel Norvik, Director, Nor-Shipping One shared question: How do we engage with innovation today to help it scale tomorrow? Making illegal things legal. Innovation vs regulation.

Estonian Embassy in Oslo, Oslo, Norway
In person

What if the next big innovation is simply not yet legal? Join us at Oslo Innovation Week for a discussion on how governments can turn regulation into a driver of innovation and help new ideas reach the market faster. The conversation will highlight Accelerate Estonia, Estonia's governmental innovation lab that works with entrepreneurs, companies and the public sector to identify and remove regulatory barriers and enable innovative solutions. A panel of Norwegian innovation industry leaders will discuss how the Nordic-Baltic region can rethink regulation to create an environment in which new ideas can become scalable businesses. Together with Estonian and Nordic entrepreneurs, investors and innovators, we'll explore: How can regulation support innovation rather than slow it down? How can governments enable experimentation while maintaining safety and trust? What Norway and the wider Nordic region can learn from Estonia's testbed approach? Are some ideas "illegal" simply because regulations have not yet caught up? Program: 17.00 Arrival, registration and welcome drinks 17.30 Welcome remarks by Estonian Ambassador Piia Mathisen 17.40–17.50 Keynote: Why Estonia as a testbed?
