Optimising for speed as an ex-F1 CFD engineer

OCT7
17:30 · Europe / Zurich

About this event

Mohamed Aly Sayed, will start by introducing what Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is, share some use cases of where it is applied in industry, and provide some examples of how CFD is leveraged in F1 to improve performance. He finishes on a personal reflection — what matters more: the engineering challenge or the character of the individuals in the team.
Mohamed holds a PhD in particle tracking & turbulence monitoring from EPFL. He has worked at both ends of the loop as a CFD engineer in F1: the simulations that come before anything is built, and observed the real-world testing that decides whether the simulation was right.
Hosted by & in the location of Ship26 - the co-building space in zurich for Founders and Independents.

Zurich | Claude Opus 5.5 Build Day Workshop

Zürich, Switzerland, Zürich, Switzerland
In person

Join a Claude Community Event, organized by local enthusiasts for everyone who loves building with Claude! The Claude Community Zurich is happy to announce the Claude Opus 5.5 Build Night! Presented by the your local Ambassador Karl Pilgram and special guest from Australia (with Swiss roots) Dominik Fretz, founder and Managing Director of Harbour Edge Intelligence. We'll get some first hand experiences with the latest Claude Opus 5.5 on the night! No panel. No long demo. A short talk from a developer to set up the stack, and then the rest of the night is yours to build in. Audience is limited to strictly 50 people for this format! The format You get a problem and a backend. You get the rest of the night to turn that into something that runs, and if you want it to, something that is live on the internet before you go home. You will not get the problem in advance. That is deliberate. Going from a cold brief to a working thing is most of the actual skill in building with Claude Code, and you cannot practise it if you have had a week to plan. Everyone starts at the same line, at the same minute. What we will tell you now: You'll get a boilerplate app that allows you to deploy to a fully accessible URL within minutes. If you want to choose your own stack - feel free. People who already build with Claude Code. Not "I have heard of it". You have installed it, pointed it at a project, and got something working. Read this bit properly. If you are earlier than that, apply anyway. You will learn a lot from being in the room. But go in with your eyes open. It moves fast, there is no beginner track, and nobody will be explaining the fundamentals from scratch. Parts of the night will be uncomfortable. That is a fine trade if you know it is coming. If you would rather start gentler, come to one of our intro sessions and catch the next build night instead. Seats are approved, not first come. Tell us honestly where you are at when you apply. We would rather put you in the right
