NL dbt meetup: 17th Edition
About this event
Our friends at Eraneos are hosting the upcoming event at their office at Amsterdam arena offices!
17:30 β πππ₯ Welcome & Light Dinner
18:00 \- Talk 1: Jasper Stoop \(Eraneos\) \- Closing the gap between business context and warehouse engineering with DIMO
Dimo is an agentic web application that helps transform business context, source data, and analytical requirements into a Kimball-style dimensional model. It starts from business processes, entities, and use cases, links those concepts to real warehouse tables, and incrementally shapes facts and dimensions into a validated star schema. The project is grounded in live warehouse metadata and testing, so the resulting model is not just conceptual but checked against actual source data and expected business outcomes. From that validated design, Dimo generates fully documented SQL or a native dbt project with table and column descriptions and core data tests. The result is a production-ready analytics engineering asset that connects business understanding directly to runnable dbt code.
18:30 - Talk 2: Sean McIntyre (dbtLabs + Fivetran) - Congratulations! You're a context engineer
Sean is a Solutions Architect based in Vienna. He helps the largest and best companies in Europe with their data, analytics, and AI. Heβs a dad to two awesome boys and enjoys riding bikes on the weekend. He'll discuss how data engineers and analytics engineers can think about the roles in their companies, and advocate to bring in more data sources into their existing workflows that AI models help process, and make well-governed data as context for AI agents.
19:00 - Talk 3: Eva van Kalmthout & Stan Verwer - A data platform that fits in a git repo
As an open source integrator of open source data platform tooling, datavloot runs dlt, DuckDB, dbt, Dagster and Elementary out of one repository, started with one command. On stage we will take you through our demo project and dbt standardizations. After that we show the boat we plan to build next,

Robot-Con @ Amsterdam's Biggest Basketball Arena
π€ Get ready for Robo Con @ Amsterdam's biggest basketball arena! We have over 30 robots coming to the event, and more than 1,300 people have signed up to attend across Luma and Meetup.com! π€ πππ We'll have an open robotics expo where you can walk around the basketball arena, check out the robots, and network. We'll also have some fun entertainment (more on that below) at the event. The doors open at 16:00, although of course you can get there later. We know work can be busy! π€π€π€ We have over 30 robots coming to Robo Con! The TU Delft, VU, and UvA robotics departments are bringing a variety of robots. We'll also have robots from large organizations like Monumental, Nebius, the Dutch police force, and Prosus, as well as robotics startups like Antfarm, BTScout, Manus, and VNYX. πΏπΏπΏ We'll have some entertainment for this event, including a robot football match (known as a "RoboCup"), a robot dance contest, a robot race, and a t-shirt cannon firing free t-shirts into the crowd! The UvA RoboCup team will be bringing a mobile football pitch, they'll set it up on the court, and we'll hold a football match between two teams of robots! πππ For a fun twist, the Dutch police force's "RoboCop" robot will play in the RoboCup football match. RoboCop vs. RoboCup! Try saying "RoboCop vs. RoboCup at Robo Con" three times fast!! Anyway, the show and entertainment will start around 18:00. π€π€ π€ But it's not just silly entertainment. We'll have an excellent panel after the entertainment portion of the event. The panel will discuss the cutting edge of AI in robotics, and features Sebas Visser, (the founder and CTO of Monumental), Laura Ferranti (a professor in the Cognitive Robotics department at TU Delft), and Pepijn Kooijmans (leads Hugging Face's open-source robotics initiative). Seb Vaessen will moderate the panel. Seb leads venture investing in Europe at Prosus, and is investing in robotics companies. After the panel ends, we'll go back to an open expo and networking until they

AdvancedAI Amsterdam
π AdvancedAI Amsterdam π π Our mission is to share knowledge and innovative ideas with engaged attendees at our in-person AI meetups, making the community bigger and better. π Free event with pizzas and drinks ποΈ Date & Time: Join us on October 14, at 18:00 for an evening filled with insights, networking, and the joy of AI. π Location: We'll gather at the Xebia office at Wibautstraat 200, 1091 GS Amsterdam π Event Schedule: 17:30 - Walk in, Drinks & Pizza π 18:00 - Explainable Agentic Workflows \- Arman Kavian 18:40 - Can Agents Dream? \- Florian Buetow 19:20 - Grounding AI Agents in Your Data Model \- Ricardo Granados 20:00 - Drinks and networking 21:00 - Doors close π¬ Talks: Explainable Agentic Workflows \- Arman Kavian Agents don't report their reasoning. They narrate it. Preserve the reasoning as structure, and the story can be checked against what actually drove the outcome. Can Agents Dream? \- Florian Buetow During sleep, our brain replays and reorganizes past actions and experiences, helping us learn from them through dreaming. Most agents' memory systems have no equivalent. They store and retrieve information on demand. But they do not replay or learn from the agents' past actions. This session introduces dreaming as an agentic memory architecture that improves the performance of long-running agents. It covers the main approaches and compares them with retrieval-based memory systems. Grounding AI Agents in Your Data Model \- Ricardo Granados Lopez AI can already read your SQL and draft what a data model means. This talk is about what has to be true before you'd trust that draft enough to rely on it. We'll walk through a working pipeline, live, that grounds an AI agent's claims about your data in real evidence, and come away with a precise, testable answer for where that trust can be automatic and where it can't. Looking forward to welcoming you! ππ
