August 2026, Julia Alcántara will present a community‑centered series of visual art classes at La Cantera Arts Conservatory (LCAC), located in Oak Cliff within the Dallas city limits. This project will run from August 2026, culminating in a public exhibition of student work at LCAC in September 6th .
Classes are offered by donation, ensuring accessibility for residents of all income levels.
All materials will be provided, and no prior experience is required.
This series will include three distinct class types designed to appeal to a wide range of community members and to determine which offerings resonate most strongly with Dallas residents:
MONDAY: Aug 17th
Still Life & Composition – exploring form, light, and classical drawing technique
THURSDAY: Aug 20th
Life Drawing – focusing on anatomy, gesture, and expressive mark‑making Student’s Choice Sessions – allowing participants to vote on topics such as portraiture, abstraction, mixed media, or creative expression
SUNDAY: Aug 23rd
Student’s Choice Sessions – allowing participants to vote on topics such as portraiture, abstraction, mixed media, or creative expression

Art Show and Reception
There will be final public exhibition will showcase the strongest works created during the series, giving students the opportunity to share their progress with family, friends, and the broader Dallas community. This exhibition will be free and open to the public.
