The Korea Playbook for Austin Physical AI Founders

SEP17
18:00

About this event

The Korea Playbook for Austin Physical AI Founders
For physical AI, the model is rarely the bottleneck.
It's who builds at volume and who's willing to fund it. China still leads on tooling and hardware, but Korea's industrial economy makes its capital structurally more willing to back long-horizon, capex-heavy robotics than most US venture. That's why Korea is becoming a place to fund and scale physical AI, not just sell into.
About the Event
Antler Korea and US Teams are bringing together founders, investors, and operators working across physical AI, robotics, hardware, and emerging technology in Austin to discuss the state of physical AI in Asia/South Korea and what it means for US startups.
We'll explore where Korea fits into the global physical AI landscape, what makes an Asia strategy credible, and how founders can turn technical advantage into real deployment, commercial partnerships, and scale.

Speakers
Mok Yun
Founder & CEO, Contoro Robotics
Mok is the founder and CEO of Contoro Robotics, an Austin-based robotics company building AI-powered robotic systems for logistics and industrial operations.
Contoro Robotics has deployed on real-world logistics deployments in South Korea and recently raised an $12M Series A investment from Coupang, South Korea's largest online retailer.
Mok will share a founder's perspective on moving robotics from development to deployment, why Korean capital is proving more willing to back capex-heavy physical AI, and where he sees Asia's role in the industry heading next.
Jiho Kang
Partner, Antler Korea
Jiho is a serial entrepreneur and investor who has built companies across Seoul and Silicon Valley. He cofounded YC backed Soomgo(acquired 2024), and BxB which was acquired by Binance.
Today, he backs globally ambitious founders as Partner at Antler Korea and works with international founders exploring Korea’s startup and industrial ecosystem.

Fridgeside! The Business & Art of Music w/Graham Reynolds (founders)

The Red Fridge Society, Austin, United States
In person

A unique Fridgeside discussion and performance from Austin composer Graham Reynolds. I had the opportunity to see Graham perform twice over the last few months in intimate settings, and was blown away by his creative process and incredible skill. We'll have a short discussion on the business of composing music, and then Graham will share his creative process with us through a live performance. Called “the quintessential modern composer” by the London Independent, Austin-based composer-bandleader-improviser Graham Reynolds records and performs music for film, theater, dance, rock clubs, and concert halls. He recently scored Richard Linklater’s Blue Moon (Sony) with Ethan Hawke and Margaret Qualley, Hit Man (Netflix), Happy Jail (Netflix), Stop Hitting Yourself (Lincoln Center Theater), Out of Her Mind (BBC), Grimm Tales (Ballet Austin), and a multi-year commission from Ballroom Marfa, The Marfa Triptych, culminating in his Creative Capital Award winning project Pancho Villa from a Safe Distance. Amidst his many other projects, Graham also serves as the Artistic Director of the new music-focused non-profit Golden Hornet. In 2020, Graham signed with London-based record label Fire Records and released his original score for Alfred Hitchcock’s silent classic, The Lodger. His newest work with them, The Portcullis (2026), is a dark ambient and dungeon synth-inspired album with thematic ties to his family's United Kingdom history. Happy hour from 5-5:45, Discussion and musical performance 5:45-6:45, and more happy hour after!

Austin Chief of Staff Meetup: AI Demo Night

Austin, TX, Austin, United States
In person

We're excited to bring the Chief of Staff Network (COSN) community back together in Austin for another evening of learning, networking, and practical AI demonstrations. Following several fantastic gatherings this year, we're continuing to build one of the most engaged Chief of Staff communities in the country by creating opportunities for operators to learn directly from one another. A special thank you to Kelley Henry for hosting and continuing to grow the Austin Chief of Staff community. Date & Time: Wednesday, September 9, 2026 · 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM CT Location: Antone's, Capital Factory This meetup will take a slightly different format, centered around one question: How are Chiefs of Staff actually using AI in their day-to-day work? Rather than listening to a keynote or panel, attendees will learn directly from one another through a series of short, practical demos. Volunteers from the community will each have around five minutes to showcase an AI workflow, prompt, tool, or process that's genuinely helping them become a more effective operator. Expect real examples, practical takeaways, and plenty of opportunities to ask questions and share ideas. When you register, you'll have the opportunity to volunteer to give a short demo if there's something you've built or discovered that others would benefit from seeing. What to expect Lightning AI demos from fellow Chiefs of Staff Practical workflows, prompts, and tools you can apply immediately Interactive discussion and Q&A Meaningful conversations with fellow Chiefs of Staff and operators Drinks, networking, and new connections Who is this event for? This meetup is for operators currently serving as Chiefs of Staff, Founders' Associates, or in similar BizOps, strategy, or operations roles. Please include your current job title and company so we can verify your role and approve your registration. If you'd like to volunteer to present a short AI demo, let us know when you register. We'd love to showcase practical example
