SpainClouds Meetup – OCTUBRE: Sistemas fiables

OCT13
18:00
  • This meetup focuses on building reliable systems that remain functional at scale.
  • It is intended for developers, engineers, and tech professionals interested in system reliability and scalability.
  • Attendees explore methods to manage complexity and chaos in large-scale infrastructure.

About this event

\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-EVENT POSTPONED\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-

Building things that actually stay up at scale is a constant battle against chaos. To dig into how we (and others) manage that, we're hosting the SpainClouds Meetup right here at Yellow Park on Tuesday, October 13th.

SpainClouds is a community focused on sharing and growing global knowledge about cloud computing, building groups around the world to actually talk about what works and what breaks.

We’ve got two people who have seen it all

Our very own Florencia Gamboa (Principal Software Engineer @ Glovo): She’ll be talking about how we keep the lights on here at Glovo when the volume and complexity start to get "exciting."
Esther Yébenes (SRE/DevOps @ Tappx): She’s sharing 20 years of "everything will eventually break" wisdom and how architectures have shifted from on-premise to the cloud.

It’s a mix of technical deep-dives and networking. No corporate fluff… just real talk about SRE, architecture, and why simplicity is usually the savior.

🎤 AGENDA HERE

18:00: Doors open
18:15: Esther on 20 years of infrastructure lessons.
18:45: Florencia on building resilient systems at Glovo scale.
19:10: Open Q&A
19:30: Networking.

If you’re into cloud, DevOps, or just want to hear some stories about avoiding system failure, come hang out.

The two sides of voice AI, building the infra vs. deploying to non-technical customers

Barcelona, Spain, Barcelona, Spain
In person

'Gradient Descending' is a series of roundtables on AI: curated deep dives with technical builders. Past roundtables discussions covered RL Environments, Evals, Fine-Tuning, Agent Frameworks, Open Source Models, and Knowledge Graphs with companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, Cursor, Scale AI and many more. For our second Gradient Descending session in Barcelona, we’re looking at voice AI from two very different sides: building the infrastructure behind it and getting it into the hands of non-technical customers. We’ll be joined by Jaime Farrés, co-founder of Flyboard, and Luke Miller, co-founder of SLNG, to compare what each side is seeing in practice. How do you build the underlying systems to be fast, reliable and affordable? And once the technology works, how do you deploy it for customers who don’t have technical teams, don’t speak in APIs and simply need the product to solve a real problem? We’ll talk about where the infrastructure layer and application layer meet, what each side needs from the other and what tends to get lost between a technically impressive product and something a customer can actually adopt and use every day. Agenda: Arrivals: 18:30–19:00 Roundtable discussion: 19:00–20:00 Drinks at the rooftop: 20:00–21:30 See past roundtables here: https://www.akashbajwa.co/t/ai-roundtables I agree that photographs and/or video may be taken during the event and used by the hosts on social media and in future promotional materials.
