Beyond Exact Matches: Detecting Modified 3D Assets at Marketplace Scale

How can a marketplace identify copied 3D assets when their orientation, geometry, or composition has changed? Drawing on my work in 3D content understanding at Roblox, this talk will explore multi-view and rotation-invariant representations for similarity and duplicate detection, including the challenges posed by deformed and fragmented copies.
It will examine how geometric and semantic signals can complement one another, and discuss practical trade-offs in evaluating detection quality and deploying these methods at scale. The presentation will draw on published patent applications and publicly shareable examples to offer practical lessons for engineers building visual search, content-understanding, and marketplace-safety systems.

About the Speaker

Phani Harish Wajjala is a Principal Machine Learning Engineer at Roblox specializing in 3D computer vision, multimodal AI, and large-scale content understanding.

Sign Language: Towards Sign Understanding for Robot Autonomy

Navigational signs are common aids for human wayfinding and scene understanding, but are underutilized by robots. We argue that they benefit robot navigation and scene understanding, by directly encoding privileged information on actions, spatial regions, and relations.

Interpreting signs in open-world settings remains a challenge owing to the complexity of scenes and signs, but recent advances in vision-language models (VLMs) make this feasible. To advance progress in this area, we introduce the task of visual sign grounding, which parses locations and associated directions from signs, and maps them to region in the sign’s local environment.

Additionally, we present a baseline approach using VLMs, and d

The Trail is the Lab

München Hbf, Munich, Germany
In person

We want to invite you to a hike — but not a normal one. Most longevity content comes in a bottle, a wearable, or a protocol. This is a day where the only equipment is your own physiology, and the mountain runs the test. 📅 When: Sunday, September 20, 9:00 AM 📍 Meeting point: Hauptbahnhof, at the start of the Gl.27-36 platform of the train to Schliersee (RB 55) 🚶 Plan: Schliersee hike with mouth taping, breathwork and lunch (see route here: https://www.komoot.com/smarttour/15836920?tour_origin=smart_tour_search) 🎟️ Free, but limited spots only We'll hike up to the Rohnberg summit nose-only, mouths taped, which adds resistance, slows the breath down, and builds CO2 tolerance — and yes, makes the climb feel harder than expected. (Most people discover their aerobic base is thinner than they thought.) At the top, we'll pair the physical work with a breathwork exercise guided by Livian, our faciliator, to feel the shift from stressed to settled. There will also be prompts along the way, and a short exercise for the quiet-headed, tired-body window — often the best place for the psychological work to land. Schedule 9:00: Meet at Hauptbahnhof 9:29: Train to Schliersee 10:26: Arrive in Schliersee Intro to nose breathing with Livian Start the hike (https://www.komoot.com/smarttour/15836920?tour_origin=smart_tour_search): mouths taped, nose only Breathwork exercise at the top Lunch Around 15:00: Hike concludes Around 16:00~17:00: Back in Munich What to bring Hiking shoes / layers appropriate for the trail A packed lunch Water Sunscreen 🎙️ Hosted by Livian Enachescu Facilitator integrating psychology, neuroscience, and breathwork — with experience supporting people in high-pressure environments ranging from extreme sports to business contexts. agentic coffee

Mittelweg 130, Hamburg, Germany
In person

Sunday morning at Espresso House — coffee and conversations about AI agents Once a month we meet at Espresso House on Mittelweg and talk about building with AI agents. No talks, no demos, no stage. How it works At 10, we do a quick round. Everyone answers two questions: what have you learned about AI agents recently, and what do you want to talk about today? Where you work and what you're building is explicitly not the point — we're after insights and whatever is currently on your mind. The topics that come out of that round become the rest of the morning. When several people find a topic interesting, we say so and split off into a small group. A table over, its own corner, for as long as it holds. If nothing fits, just move to another group. What we talk about The things that never make it into a repo: why you rebuilt your orchestrator for the third time, which pattern quietly fell apart after two weeks, what you're stuck on, where you're headed. Telling, asking, thinking further. If someone turns their laptop around to show something, great — it's just not planned. Who it's for People who work with AI agents rather than just read about them. Claude Code, your own multi-agent setups, orchestration, whatever your stack is. Just getting started? The Beginner Boot-up is the better entry point. Good to know Where: Espresso House, Mittelweg 130 Cost: none. You pay for your own coffee. Language: English important: can't make it? please update your RSVP. chronic no-shows lose their free spot next time. thanks! 🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫🦫 P.S. if your beaver brain loves building and hates selling, same.
