The International Space University - USA Alumni Association’s Washington, DC Chapter is pleased to present our next monthly event! These events bring together prominent experts on space, ISU alumni, the space community, and the interested public in a casual forum that encourages interaction and discussion.

Based in Washington, D.C., Mark leads Planet’s government relations and policy team that engages with the U.S. Government and partner nations around the world. Before joining Planet, Mark worked for United Launch Alliance (ULA) where he managed the civil space portfolio and led government relations with NASA, NOAA, and the FAA.
Prior to ULA, Mark worked for Representative Michael Honda (D-Silicon Valley, CA) in Washington, D.C. Mark initially joined the Congressman as an AAAS Congressional Science & Technology Policy Fellow before transitioning to permanent staff. As a Senior Policy Advisor, Mark managed the Commerce, Justice, and Science (CJS) Appropriations Subcommittee for Congressman Honda who served as the Subcommittee’s Ranking Member.
Before working on Capitol Hill, Mark received his Ph.D. in Astrophysics from the University of California, Santa Cruz where his research focused on galaxy evolution. As the son of a US diplomat, Mark spent much of his childhood living in South Asia and southern Africa before going to Rice University in Houston, Texas for his bachelor’s degree. Following Rice, Mark taught high school physics with Teach for America in St. Louis, Missouri before moving to California for graduate school.

All perspectives are welcome. Doors open at 12:45 p.m. The film will begin at 1:10. with a runtime of 1h 16m, with discussion beginning at approximately 2:30. Though you should feel free to leave at the noted end time of 3 o'clock, we have the room until 4 for those who would like an extended discussion. The Central Branch is an 8 minute walk from Virginia Square-GMU Metro Station (Orange and Silver Lines).
