How to Use AI to Position Your Startup to Buyers

OCT20
18:00 · Europe / Zurich

About this event

You built the product. The market isn't buying it yet. Usually the gap is positioning: buyers don't see themselves in your pitch. In this hands-on session, Jonathan Grover shows you how to use AI to fix that. You'll build a synthetic version of your ideal buyer as an AI agent, then let it tear into your pitch in real time, surfacing the objections and gaps a real buyer would raise. You'll leave with sharper positioning that actually converts, plus a Claude skill you can take home and reuse on your next pitch. Come with a product and a pitch you're willing to put to the test.

Introduction to the data build tool (dbt)

Online, Canada · Data Engineers in Toronto
Online

Data Engineers in Toronto October 2026 Semimonthly Meeting Topic: Introduction to the data build tool (dbt) Abstract: Many people learn from the Jaffle Shop sample dbt project. However, the complexity of the project is quite simple. What I really wanted is a project that goes over the following dbt concepts: • Seed raw data tables • Transform raw data using views • Support multiple databases with macros • Capture slowly changing dimensions type • Incremental loading of large data • Use ephemeral tables as a place holder • Use dbt utils package to make a date dimension • Create a dimensional model for reporting • Save pre-canned queries in analyses directory • Test data quality using property/schema files • Output custom data quality exceptions to a table • Create documentation based on model design In the end, I created my own sample dbt project using the Chinook database schema as the foundation. I must thank Luis Rocha for the OLTP database design and sample data. This open source project was built using an Fabric SQL Database as the target. However, it can be built on any supported database using the correct dbt adapter and ODBC driver. At the end of this presentation, a data engineer will be ready to model data for any given database or warehouse. VanRuby: AI Lane: How I moved from coding to orchestrating software conveyor belts

Asana, Vancouver, Canada
In person

A Jira ticket goes in, a reviewed PR comes out. Are we all doomed? In this talk I'll take you through how I built OPEN Regenerative Technologies’ AI Lane, what broke along the way, and how designing the machine that ships the features scratched every engineering itch that coding used to. Speaker Guillaume has been writing software for almost 2 decades all around the world. Guillaume takes pride in pragmatic technical advocacy when working with cross-functional stakeholders.
