About this event

On Thursday 27th August, join us in Houston, Texas for an inspiring showcase of innovation and learning as we celebrate the culmination of the 8-week BiteLabs USA HealthTech, AI, and Innovation Fellowship.
This isn't a conference where you sit and listen. This is a day of real conversations, real pitches, and real connections with people who are actually doing the work.
💡 What to Expect:
🧬 AI in BioTech Panel - Where AI meets drug discovery and molecular science. Hear from founders and researchers who are using machine learning to design new medicines, predict protein structures, and compress the 15-year drug pipeline into months.
⚖️ Healthcare AI Ethics Panel - The conversation the industry needs to have. How do we build responsibly when the stakes are people's lives?
🎯 Hiring in Digital Health Panel - Whether you're building a team or trying to break into one, this session breaks down what it actually takes to land (or fill) roles in healthtech right now.
🏥 Fellow Pitches - Watch clinician-entrepreneurs from our 8-week fellowship present the digital health solutions they've built from scratch. These are doctors, nurses, and pharmacists who decided to build, not just practice.
🦈 Healthtech Shark Tank - Live startup pitches. Real investor feedback. If you're a founder, this is your shot. If you're an investor, this is your deal flow.
🤝 Networking + Drinks - No awkward name badges and small talk. Just a room full of people who care about the same thing you do.

State of the Commons 2026: HIC End-of-Year Gathering & Social

Improving, Houston, United States
In person

State of the Commons 2026 HIC End-of-Year Gathering & Social Join Houston Innovation Commons for our final gathering of 2026 — an evening to reconnect, reflect on what we’ve learned together, and look ahead to the questions Houston’s innovation ecosystem should tackle next. Throughout the year, HIC has brought together founders, investors, operators, ecosystem leaders, and community members to interrogate some of the persistent challenges facing innovation-driven entrepreneurship in Houston. We’ve asked questions about technical talent, incubators and accelerators, early-stage capital, and the infrastructure that helps promising ideas move forward. At State of the Commons 2026, we’ll bring those investigations together for the first time. State of the Commons We’ll share a short annual briefing synthesizing what we heard and discovered across the year: What patterns emerged across our investigations? Where does Houston’s innovation ecosystem appear to be working well? Where does friction continue to show up? What have we learned that changes how we understand the problem? What questions and opportunities deserve greater attention in 2027? This won’t just be a recap of HIC events. It’s an attempt to step back, connect the dots, and take stock of the state of Houston’s innovation commons. And then, we celebrate. The rest of the evening is an open house and social. Come grab a drink, eat, reconnect with people you’ve met through HIC, meet someone new, explore some of the findings from the year, and help us think about where the Commons goes next. So expect: State of the Commons annual briefing Food + drinks A little end-of-year atmosphere Plenty of time to actually hang out Whether you joined us for one gathering or have been part of the Commons throughout the year, we’d love to close out 2026 with you. Hosted by Houston Innovation Commons Houston Innovation Commons is a community-driven effort to better understand the friction within Houston’s innovation ecosystem
