Berlin Ethereum Meetup

SEP2
18:30 · Europe / Berlin

About this event

Welcome to the Berlin Ethereum Meetups!
Join us as we explore technical and non-technical topics around Ethereum, FOSS technology, privacy, security, censorship resistance, self-sovereignty, and public goods. You can connect with others and even find ways to collaborate on building a more decentralized future.

Our meetups are open to all - from those new to Ethereum to long-standing community members and developers.

🗓️ Agenda (subject to change)

🕕 6:30 - 6:45 pm - Arrivals
🕡 6:45 - 7:00 pm - Ecosystem & Community Updates by Eniko (Ethereum Foundation)

🕡 7:00 - 7:30 pm - Public goods funding on Ethereum: past, present, and future by Martin Hansen (Ethereum Foundation)
Ethereum depends on work that no one has an obvious incentive to pay for: client development, research, tooling, and documentation. This talk traces how the ecosystem has tried to fund that work - from early grants to quadratic funding and retroactive rewards - and covers where those approaches have succeeded and where they’ve fallen short. It closes by highlighting the open problems the space is still working through.

🕖 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm - Open discussions and community time

The event is sponsored by Gnosis.

The talks will be recorded and uploaded to our Youtube channel. Subscribe to stay up to date!

Apply to speak at our future meetups: Speaker Application!

Coffee & Lift #30 Sundays — Women+ Gym Meetup at Holmes Place Gendarmenmarkt

19grams Alex – Coffee Roastery, Berlin, Germany
In person

When I first started strength training, I was intimidated, confused, and nowhere near consistent. I kept thinking it would be easier if I just had other women around me going through the same thing. So I'm starting exactly that — for women who want to be more serious about their strength training, get extra accountability and a community of women. Up until now we've been running Coffee & Lift on Saturdays. We're now expanding to Sundays too, so we can make room for more women and get more of us stronger together. This one is on a Sunday, at Holmes Place Gendarmenmarkt. How it works We meet in front of a cafe, grab a coffee, take a walk together, and end at a gym nearby. Want to train after? Great — work on your own program or buddy up with someone. Prefer to just do the walk and grab a coffee? Also great. What matters is that you're surrounded by other women who are interested in getting stronger. 9 free gym passes on us for Holmes Place Gendarmenmarkt! If you've always wanted to join a Coffee & Lift but haven't been able to, this is your sign — we have 9 free gym passes to give out! All we ask in return is a quick story from the session tagging @womensliftclub. Please only claim one if: You have never had a free day pass from Holmes Place before. This one is important, it's a condition from our gym partner. You don't already have a Wellpass, Urban Sports Club, or Holmes Place membership. Let's make sure they go to the right people! How to claim your pass: there's nothing to do in advance. Just come to the event and you'll go into the gym together with the host, who will sort everything out on the day. Please do make sure you actually turn up, because a claimed pass that goes unused is a spot another woman could have had. Please note: by claiming a free pass, you agree that your name and email address will be shared with Holmes Place, and that they may contact you in future about their own offers and marketing. Free filter coffee from 19grams this week! 19grams is

Data Science Retreat Demo Day #47

Data Science Retreat, Berlin, Germany · Data Science Retreat
In person

Hey Berlin Data Folks! We’re looking forward to welcoming you to our next Data Science Demo Day on 20th October. Our Batch 47 participants have been busy working on their final projects, and they’re ready to share what they’ve built. This time, we have 7 projects covering a pretty wide mix of topics, from behavioral profiling and healthcare to career transitions, engineering, agriculture, fire detection, and even fermentation. It’ll be a relaxed autumn evening to see some practical data science and AI applications, meet others from Berlin’s data community, and chat about ideas, projects, and what people are working on. And, of course, we’ll have some pizza and drinks to keep everyone going. Free to Attend! Agenda: 17:30 \- Drinks and Networking 18:00 \- Welcome & Introduction Followed by Project Presentations Project Ideas: 1\. ML\-Based Data Broker Simulator Project by Sascha Alexeyenko How much can your everyday browsing actually reveal about you? This project explores that question by building an ML-based data broker simulator. It combines browsing metadata with website content to look for patterns around a user’s emotions, activities, and behavior, both in the moment and over time. The project also demonstrates how these insights could be used to target people with certain content or recommendations at just the right moment. The idea is to make behavioral profiling feel less abstract and give people a clearer sense of what can be inferred from their browsing data and how those insights might be used to influence their choices. 2\. Personalized Psychiatric Treatment Selection for Depression Project by Aleksandra Garifulina Finding the right antidepressant treatment can be a very individual process. This project explores whether machine learning can help support more personalized treatment selection using patient-level clinical characteristics and treatment-response data. The project looks at supervised classification methods to match treatments more closely
