About this event

AI: what are we afraid of, and what do we want instead?
The first Claude Conversation in Berlin
Most arguments about AI are about whether it will turn out good or bad. Nobody settles that in one evening, and it may not even be the useful question. This evening is about two questions we can actually work on: what are we, the people who live in this city, afraid of losing, and what would we want instead, concretely, here in Berlin?
Who this is for
You don't need to use Claude, or any AI tool, to come, and you don't need to be technical. If AI makes you uneasy, angry, or simply tired, you're exactly who we're hoping to meet. We also want teachers, nurses, artists, civil servants, shop owners, researchers, parents, students, and anyone quietly wondering what all this means for their work and their street. Enthusiasts are welcome too. The room is built for a mix of views, not for agreement.
How the evening works
Around 50 people in small circles, with hosts keeping things moving. No talks, no demos, no pitch. We start with what worries people, said out loud and taken seriously. Then we turn it around: if AI went well for Berlin, what would be different five years from now, and what would have to be true to get there? We write up the themes afterwards, without names, and everyone who took part gets the write-up.
Why this is the first of several
This is the first in a series of events run by the Claude Community Ambassadors in Berlin. Each one takes on a single hard question about AI and this city. The series leads to an Impact Lab: a full-day build with a Berlin nonprofit or public institution, working on one real problem they bring. Everything made on that day is donated to them and released as open source. What people say at this first conversation shapes what gets built later, so if you'd like the outcome to be something you'd actually use, this is the evening to say so.
