Author Book Talk: Who is in Charge? Why AI Must Remain Under Human Control

SEP19
10:30

About this event

Let's attend an author book talk on Who Is in Charge?: Why AI Must Remain Under Human Control by Khaled Koubaa
A few copies of the book will be available for participants.
Book Introduction:
Who is in charge when AI systems advise, decide, automate, and act across institutions?
As artificial intelligence becomes more capable, faster, and more autonomous, the old promise of “human in the loop” is no longer sufficient. Many systems now operate at a speed and scale where human review can become ceremonial: a person is present, but not actually positioned to see, challenge, stop, or answer for the system’s conduct.
Who Is in Charge? argues for a different doctrine: Human in the Oversight.

The Gigawatt Age: Make No Little Plans.

909 E St NW, Washington, United States
In person

America needs to start building big again. AI, data centers, advanced manufacturing, defense, and the reindustrialization of the American economy will demand power at a scale we haven't contemplated in decades. We need to think bigger than a megawatt-sized solution. The next era will be measured in gigawatts. The Nuclear Company is building for that era: starting with nuclear campuses of two to four gigawatts per site, with a pathway to six to eight gigawatts per site. These aren't deployed as one-off projects, they're gigafleets. Making the gigawatt era possible will require an entirely new technology stack built to design, license, construct, and operate nuclear at fleet scale: Nuclear OS. Join us for an evening inside the Gigawatt Age. Screening Nuclear OS, live demos, and our team on hand to talk about what it takes to build at a scale America hasn't attempted in generations. Music, food, and drinks all night. This event is part of Deep Tech Week. Create a free profile at deep-tech-week.com/register to help hosts approve your registration and build your schedule for the week.
