Join us for a slow nature awareness walk in Kamakura — a historical temple walk from Kita-Kamakura to the Great Buddha.

This walk is for people in UX, design, research, product, marketing, or related fields who've been feeling the speed of change around them: new tools, new expectations, and new questions about what our work is becoming.
Instead of discussing AI and change in front of another screen, we'll take those questions into the hills of Kamakura.
The Great Buddha wasn't built once — the first wooden version was destroyed by a storm in 1248, and what replaced it was cast in bronze instead, a deliberate choice for durability. The hall built to shelter it didn't survive the centuries either; the statue has sat in the open air since 1498, outlasting everything that was meant to protect it. It's a small, physical example of a bigger question: what in our work is worth building to last, even as the tools around us keep changing?
We'll walk toward it slowly, through forest paths, old temples, and shrines, with space to notice what's changing around us along the way.
This is a small participatory outdoor experience where we will walk, observe, reflect, and share with each other.
The trail includes a steeper climb near the beginning, followed by gentle forest paths — it is not a difficult hike overall. We will move slowly, take breaks, and focus on awareness rather than speed or distance.
After the walk, we'll head to a restaurant near Hase together for lunch (optional, own expense).

Schedule
10:00 — Meet at Kita-Kamakura Station
10:05 — Walk to Jochi-ji Temple, opening & check-in
10:15 — Start walking into the forest (steeper climb near the beginning)
10:45 — Arrive at Kuzuharaoka Shrine / Genjiyama Park — rest
11:05 — Continue toward the Great Buddha
11:45 — Arrive at Kotoku-in (Great Buddha)
