What is the event goal?
In cybersecurity, we often avoid discussing incidents. Few companies conduct post-mortems or perform in-depth analyses. We are carrying out a technical deep dive into these incidents.
We try to answer these questions with the 5 whys:
Why did the incident happen?
Why was that possible?
Why did the control that should have stopped it fail?
Why wasn't it detected sooner?
Why does the underlying condition exist across the environment?
What is the subject?
Mainstream media covered these incidents extensively, but much of it was clickbait and presented a distorted reality. We will address each point and provide a timeline where available.
