Across the 3,284 seed-stage deals Brouky tracks in Germany and the Netherlands from 2021 to 2024, the most notable sector shift is the 2.8 percentage point decline in Commerce & Marketing's share of funding. These share shifts may partly reflect expanding data coverage over time. This sector's share dropped from 7.7% to 4.9%, marking the largest retreat among tracked categories.
Software & Developer Tools, despite holding the largest share at 34.9% in 2024, also saw a slight decline of 0.5 percentage points from 35.4% in 2021. This indicates a modest reduction in investor allocation towards software-focused seed rounds relative to other sectors.

Other sectors such as Industry & Hardware and Artificial Intelligence & Data also saw increases of 3 and 1.5 percentage points respectively, but none matched the scale of change seen in Energy, Environment & Mobility or the contraction in Commerce & Marketing.
