Finance & Blockchain’s 4.1pp share loss contrasts with Software & Developer Tools’ 2pp gain

Across the 3,944 seed-stage deals Brouky tracks in Germany and France, Finance & Blockchain experienced the largest decline in funding share, dropping by 4.1 percentage points from 12.8% to 8.7% between 2021 and 2024, a change that may partly reflect expanding data coverage.
In contrast, Software & Developer Tools increased its seed funding share by 2 percentage points, rising from 34.9% to 36.9%. This sector remains the dominant recipient of seed deals, nearly quadrupling the share of Finance & Blockchain at the end of the period.
MEDIAN SEED ROUND SIZE BY SECTOR (EUR)
Healthcare & Life Sciences also expanded its share modestly by 0.9 percentage points, moving from 13.3% to 14.2%. Notably, Healthcare’s median seed round size of €9.19 million surpasses Software’s €6.0 million, indicating larger average investments despite a smaller share.
The median seed round sizes further differentiate sectors, with Healthcare and Industry & Hardware rounds both near €9.1 million, well above Commerce & Marketing’s €5.2 million.
