In France and Germany, fintech's funding share fell from 14% to 9% since 2021 — software took the ground it lost

Across the 3,039 deals Brouky tracks in France and Germany from 2021 to 2024, Finance & Blockchain saw the largest sector share decline, contracting by 5.6 percentage points from 14.3% down to 8.7%. Over the same period Software & Developer Tools posted the largest share gain, up 4.8 percentage points from 33.7% to 38.4%. Healthcare & Life Sciences experienced a slight decline of 0.3 percentage points, dropping from 12.4% to 12.1%. These share shifts may partly reflect expanding data coverage.

Other sectors such as Energy, Environment & Mobility (+2.9pp) and Industry & Hardware (+2.4pp) also gained funding share during this period.

MEDIAN ROUND SIZE BY SECTOR (EUR)

The median round size in Healthcare & Life Sciences stood at €10 million, the highest among the categories, compared to €5.06 million in Software & Developer Tools. Despite the slight dip in Healthcare's share, its funding rounds remain substantially larger than those in Software, with median round sizes nearly double (€10 million vs €5.06 million).
