Most Django apps remember only the present: a status column overwritten with every change. Then someone asks, “What happened before this?” but the history has already been lost.

At eBag we use a different default: append-only models, where every change is a new INSERT and „current state“ is the latest row. A delivery fleet and a wall of physical lockers in Sofia depend on it.

We’ll compare it honestly with event sourcing and django-simple-history, then get practical: current state without N+1, correctness under concurrent writes, side effects that can’t corrupt state.

Leave knowing when to stop calling UPDATE.
