He's a professor at the University of Alberta and one of the people behind DeepStack, the first AI to beat human professionals at heads-up no-limit Texas hold'em, work he did together with researchers from Charles University and CTU right here in Prague. He also led the development of the Arcade Learning Environment, which turned Atari games into the standard testbed for reinforcement learning research."
