Diving deeper into software development discussions

AUG15
17:00
  • This event is an open, self-organizing discussion group where participants talk about various software development topics including programming languages, frameworks, and system architectures.
  • It is for software developers and technology enthusiasts interested in deepening their knowledge through peer conversations.
  • The event provides a casual and participatory environment without formal speakers or leadership.

About this event

• What we'll do
Come join in discussions about Vim, Emacs, Linux, Elixir, Erlang, OTP, Lisp, Haskell, Ruby, Javascript, Functional Programming, Object Oriented Programming, Blockchain, HashGraph, Distributed Systems, Decentralized Systems, and whatever peaks your interest.

• What to bring
A laptop, good questions, exciting ideas, an open mind and a positive attitude.

• Where to meet
Meet by the corn hole game in the back and look for others with laptops.
Ask for others that are there for the software discussion group.

• Alternate location
Some nights the Rabbit Hole has live music. I was not able to pin down
an exact schedule, just sometimes we would show up and there would be a band but most times there was not. As an alternate location on live music nights the discussion group could be moved just down the street to Lestats coffee shop. They have great coffee and a nice atmosphere for hanging out and discussing software.

• Important to know
This is a self organizing open discussion group that is meant to be organic, with no main speaker or leader. It is just a time and a place for like minded people to come together to talk about software.

• Background
When I was staying in SD (Jan-Aug 2018) I was teaching software development at UCSD and the Meetup gave my cohort a space to dive further into topics that the curriculum did not allow time for. When the class was over and I went back to traveling full time, I thought it would be an interesting experiment to leave the Meetup going and see if people would still gather to discuss software without someone to lead it. I liked the idea of a group that did not require some one to always lead it. A lot off Meetups I have been to before were always one or two people doing a lot of work to organize and put on talks but everyone else just shows up to consume and doesn't really participate that much. Kinda like going to a movie, in a way. The idea for this group is that it is what people make it. You get out of it what you

San Diego | Claude Impact Lab - Biotech & Life Sciences

San Diego, CA, San Diego, United States
In person

Join a Claude Community Event, organized by local enthusiasts for everyone who loves building with Claude! Part II of the Claude Conversation for Biotech & Life Sciences in San Diego, a two-part series. Curious about Part I? Details here! Last month, we held Part I, the Claude Conversation: a room full of San Diegans spent an evening sharing our experiences, fears, hopes, and ideas focused on the future of AI in biotech and life sciences. This month, it's time for Part II: What should we do about it? What solutions might we build? Three key themes emerged from Part I of the Claude Conversation that will guide our tracks for Part II, the Impact Lab: 1) How do we address concerns around AI being "confidently wrong," especially when dealing with scientific data? 2) What are the opportunities and use cases for in-silico testing and discovery? 3) How do we protect proprietary scientific data? No previous hackathon experience required! Pick one of the three tracks, tell us your area of expertise in the sign-up, and we'll make sure you have a team for the evening. This isn't your typical hackathon - by the end of the evening, we hope you've built not only a prototype, but also real connections and continued conversations right here in your community around the future of AI in this space. See you there!

You'll see practical demonstrations of legal workflows, then work through a task yourself. We'll also discuss confidentiality, privilege, and the points where professional judgment and review remain essential. No technical background needed. Bring a laptop and a task from your practice that you'd like to speed up. You'll leave with a workflow you can put to use Monday morning.
