CAMeLS-Group: tenth session in Copenhagen Advanced Machine Learning Study Group

OCT26
16:00 · Europe / Copenhagen

About this event

Welcome to the tenth instalment of the Copenhagen Advanced Machine Learning Study Group (CAMeLS-Group).
We meet every second Monday to read and discuss a machine learning paper together at the "Snaren" reading area on the fourth floor of the Copenhagen Municipality Central Library.

In a time of endless online chatter and AI-induced attention decay, we’re trying something entirely old: reading and discussing together in person. The idea is simple: bring your laptop or a printed copy of the paper - BUT DO NOT READ IT IN ADVANCE!

During the session, we read each section individually at the same time, then pause to discuss it together before moving on. Once we’ve finished the paper, we come together for a broader discussion of the paper as a whole.

Recommended prerequisites: some background in ML or related fields, at a level where you can read a paper in your favourite area. Don’t feel scared off if you have not yet graduated, but we will be reading research papers.

In this session, we will be reading the paper SkillsBench: Benchmarking How Well Agent Skills Work Across Diverse Tasks.
The paper can be found here: arxiv.org/abs/2602.12670

Copenhagen | Claude for Science

København, Denmark, Copenhagen, Denmark
In person

Join a Claude Community Event, organized by local enthusiasts for everyone who loves building with Claude! In September 2026 two AI labs made claims that would have sounded unlikely a year ago. Anthropic reported that Claude agents searched a DNA database for 21 hours and flagged a CRISPR-like enzyme system in bacteriophages. Another well-known, frontier AI lab said one of its models had resolved the blow-up question for the Navier–Stokes equations, one of the seven Millennium Prize Problems. The research community is still examining both claims. Both cases show where scientific work is heading. This evening looks at what that means in practice. Four STEM researchers from academia and industry each present one case. What research question they are trying to answer. How they used Claude. What they found. What worked, and what did not. No product demos. No sales pitches. Researchers showing their work. The venue We meet in the historical Auditorium A at the Niels Bohr Institute. The institute opened in 1921. In the 1920s this building was where young physicists worked out quantum mechanics. Bohr gave his lectures in this room. In the 1930s Heisenberg and Pauli sat in the front row. The benches seat about 50, so the evening is small on purpose. Programme (preliminary) 15:30 Doors open 16:00 Welcome 16:10 The story of Auditorium A, told by the Niels Bohr Institute 16:25 Case study 1 16:45 Case study 2 17:10 Break with snacks and drinks 17:40 Case study 3 18:00 Case study 4 18:20 Closing remarks 18:30 Networking 19:00 Close Speakers are added here as they confirm. Who should come Researchers, PhD students and R&D professionals in physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, data science, and related fields who use AI in their research or want to start. Seats are limited and registration needs approval. We aim for an even mix of academia and industry. Practical The building houses sensitive research facilities, so guests stay in the auditorium and the rooms next to it all ev
