About this event

AI & Society: Where AI Is Actually Landing in Your Work
Tuesday 18 August · 5:30pm arrival for a 6pm start, finishing approx 7:30pm

Dimbin Mill, Seminar Room, Lvl 1, The Precinct (access via stairs)

No keynote this month — just an open discussion night.

We'll talk honestly about where AI has actually turned up in people's day-to-day work, where it hasn't, and where the lines probably should be.

Small group conversations rather than a stage and an audience, with a few activities through the night to keep it moving. Nothing that needs prep or expertise going in.

Whatever industry you're in, you've probably got a take on this — we'd like to hear it. Everything discussed on the night feeds into a community paper we're building over the coming months, a practical, member-written look at AI across different fields.

Open to anyone — technical or not, skeptical or all-in.

Event details Time: 5:30pm arrival · 6:00pm start · 7:30 close
Location: Dimbin Mill, Seminar Room — accessed via stairs in the lane (no lift)
Note: if you have mobility needs and want to check alternative arrangements, message us before the night.

Photography notice Photos and video may be captured for AI & Society's LinkedIn and community comms. If you'd prefer not to be included, just let us know on arrival.

About AI & Society AI & Society is a national community bringing people from all backgrounds together to talk through the human and civic side of AI. Through events and facilitated workshops across Australian cities, we build practical AI literacy and connect technical insight with everyday judgement.

Update: We've changed this month's event — new theme, new date. We're holding AI in Creative Industries later in the year so we can give it the panel and speakers it deserves. In its place: an open town hall on where AI is actually landing in your work, whatever industry you're in. No keynote, just the room talking — genuinely looking forward to this one.
